shape animation

This is my shape animation where I turned a circle into a bird, a pentagon into pac-man and another circle into a blue blob. This was just testing out the animating shapes

love and theft

I feel this was a really interesting and confusing video to watch due to all the things that were going on at once. I liked this as it is really creative in the sense that it included cartoon characters, such as spongebob and spiderman, merging together through animation. I found this interesting because this must have taken either days or weeks to perfect, even adding the colours could have taken a while to fit into what's happening.

Ark

What was it about?
I think that this is about a man who had a flashback or just an illusion about being sick on a ship which is heading to an island due to the "end of the world" scenario. But when he gets to the roof of the ship with a gun to his head, he is stopped by a nurse. At this moment, we see that he is a lot older and is only on the roof of his flat.

my thoughts
I think that this was an interesting short film in the way it is set out on a boat in the persons head but in reality he was in his apartment. I feel that this person is suffering from dementia and this is the reason we seen the whole boats and island scene before the nurse turned up.

animation
I really like the animation in the way it is presented in a 3D form

scrapbook

This is one of the tasks we had done. This was a "comic book strip" summed up in 3 boxes. I made this out of stamps and stencil/lettering outlines to show a short story of Steve the Fish. I liked the fact we were able to use stamps because it is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. If there was something I didn't like about it would be that I would have liked to spend longer on this and use more boxes.

Here are the "artworks" I made. The one in the middle is an origami envelope which I used to hold this part of a leaflet. The envelope wasn't as complicated as I originally thought it would be because all you needed to do is grab 2 pieces of square paper on top of each other, turn it so its a diamond shape, fold the top corner inwards to the middle, move both the bottom flaps in towards the opposite end and there you have a colourful envelope. What I like about this would be the fact I was able to use 2 good colours and was able to produce this envelope. I did not like the fact this is a little bit small but size doesn't matter and this was fun either way.

Amazing scrapbook

A scrapbook is a book version of a collage full of images and colour connected to a theme

analytics insta

For the analytics, I decided to use squarelovion to find out what public activity has happened towards my profile. These are my results:

These 2 graphs show the best times to post through what interactions happen by the public. The first graph shows that sunday was where most people viewed and liked my photos

Here are the amount of photos/likes/comments and followers I had gained over the week when I carried out this project.

Here are the tags I used. As shown here, I have used #bcaltbath the most as it was the main tag that we were suppose to use.

name animations

Print Lettering Name

Here is my name in print letters. I finished Sam Jones so i decided to turn it into Samuel Jones just to get the practice into placing the letters into size and scale

This is an animated gif that I made which has "Samuel" rolling into place.

Time sensitive advertising

I liked how we were put under pressure to come up with a company name and car advert. The car was to suit the fact the royal baby was born and to bring a sale to invite people to buy your new car/design. The quickest car advert that was up just after the new royal baby was born was by Nissan and the advert was up 7 minutes after the birth. This is interesting as I wouldn't have thought someone could have made an advert regarding the birth so fast.

evaluation Instagram

These photos are from my media Instagram account which we made for our project. The first picture is my profile where you can see all 8 of my pictures that I have posted. Each post gained between 0-2 likes which I think is great because I wasn't really expecting to get 2 on any post this quickly. My profile picture is just 3 rocks from Green park, yes it isn't the most creative or interesting picture in the world but it was the best I could find at the time and as boring as it is, I quite like it. Away from the profile comes the tree reflection in the lake. I like this on because it's creative and not often seen in these types of Instagram accounts. Having that in mind, I feel this was a great aspect to the Bath wildlife or nature. As you can see, it has 2 likes which was one of the most liked posts on the profile. although 2 likes doesn't seem like much from a professionals point of view but for me, it was worth it. Finally, my favourite picture, the knocked down tree in an open field with a clear blue sky. No editing, no Photoshop or no added effects. That is why this picture is so appealing is because not many people get to see such an amazing view, especially in England. Yet again, this post has 2 likes, slightly disappointed due to it being my favourite one but that's how these things go. the industry professional gave me some feedback on the Instagram profile, theme and what I have already. One of the feedback that she gave me was that "it worked well and it was different to the usual Bath photos that show the busy side of it." I found this theme of "nature" difficult because there are only a few places in Bath like this, such as Victoria park and green park. Yes there are a couple more places, like the weir, but I decided to stay to the more popular places. Most of my pictures were from Victoria park or green park. I chose these places because there was a lot to take pictures of in a small area. If I was to do something differently next time, I would take more pictures and move a bit further out, whilst staying in the Bath area.

microphone

This is an equivalent to the microphones that we used in the filming. This is a shotgun microphone which in my opinion is a great microphone to record sounds from the phone call conversation to the call itself. I am glad this was used or else the sound quality wouldn't have been near as good as it was in the film

reflective blog C:U

My Caller Unknown film went really well and I am happy of my final outcome. Throughout this project, there have been quite a few difficulties throughout the production from the pre-production to the post-production. These included setbacks such as change of script, background gameplay and continuity. Besides this, the film turned out to be one of my best work yet, in my opinion.

Pre-production
In this, the script changed 3 times due to not being able to acquire the right gameplay for the computer screen. There were originally suppose to be 3 different clips to be shown from 3 different Call of Duty games. The plan was that the caller changed the games so they turned futuristic each time. This annoyed every player who loved the Call of Duty franchise in real life, so I decided to bring that aspect of "based on true events" to the film. When I couldn't find the right footage that I needed then the script had to be changed. However, I think that the new changes were a great idea because I only needed 1 bit of gameplay which was more successful than I had thought it would be.

In the script there is no real motivation for the caller to demand Steve to give him £10,000 besides to develop the plot. If I was going to give him a motive, I would say that this character was in the same game as the protagonist (Steve) where the caller was being made fun of by Steve, This made the caller really angry at Steve and he accidentally destroyed some of his expensive equipment. This led him to take his anger out on Steve by wanting the £10,000 to buy back the equipment. I feel that this isn't the best plot for this movie but I think it works well through how people usually react in these situations of raging online. I have seen/ heard people start throwing and destroying equipment through a simple online game, but this is how people react to raging at a game

Production
This one really put the skills to the test. I'm not normally good at acting so this was challenging. I think directing my film was fun, trying to control the cast was hard because I'm not amazing at directing. But the outcome of the film was worth the effort in my opinion. If I was to improve it, I would make sure that I filmed every little bit that I need because I noticed that I didn't record me walking from the stairs to the exit door. It just looks like I teleported from area to the next. In that bit I was going to have me follow the caller outside but I guess I forgot that bit between Monday and Thursday.

post-production
I feel that this was the easiest part due to only having to collect the footage from the folder and put it in order. The only hard part in this section of the project was to find the right clips and put them in the right order. The two things I would do differently is to add sound effects or music in the background and to check what is wrong with the continuity of the film. Besides that, I am happy about the outcome.

Peer-assessment
Through peer assessment, I have been told that there are some continuity errors such as the lights were still on and the camera bag was in shot in the final scene in the car park. Apart from that it was apparently good and nicely edited through where the caller was calling Steve.

insta photos

These are all 8 of the photos which I uploaded to Instagram. I think that 2 of them had 0 likes, 4 had 2 likes and 2 had 1 like. Although that doesn't seem like much I think that it's an achievement to get 7 followers and 10 likes altogether in just over a week

Theories

The hypodermic needle is a theory that follows the idea that people are being injected or manipulated with this new information that may or may not be true. where a news report shows a fake event that has or will happen. Through this, people believe it and don’t realise it is faked to get attention. The fake news also makes fake evidence or takes something else the wrong way. However the victims don't know this. An example of this would be the “Panic broadcast.” This was when radio version of H. G. Wells’ play “War of the Worlds” was being broadcasted as radio drama in 1938 as a Halloween episode which was directed by Orson Welles. The play was presented as news bulletins. American citizens thought that life from other planets were attacking a place in New Jersey. The outcome of this is that a lot of the population believed the broadcast and the thought of an alien invasion caused a major panic to millions of people. To this I'm going to say don't always believe in the media. I feel this relates to Instaram through people uploading perfect pictures of something which in reality isn't as good as it seemed. For example, if someone uploaded a picture of a nice, empty beach in sunny weather in England people from abroad would think "wow, that's a place I want to visit," were in reality it might be always raining and misserable.

The 2 step flow is where people get ideas and information from media sources and then tells other people about this information along with their opinions and interpretations. For example, someone hears about something on the news and then gives their interpretation or opinions to other people. The Two Step Flow Theory is also of interest to the advertising side of industries. In history, advertising companies realised that face to face communication is a great way to sell or recommend products. A lot of campaigns set out to influence people using their opinions and to target “opinion leaders”. However, this is something we have done occasionally somehow. We are more likely to buy a product if it’s been recommended by a friend or family. This relates to Instagram though the way companies advertise their products though getting celebrities to advertise it on their social media including Instagram and tagging or mentioning the product they are showing.

How to be creative video

I found the creative video very interesting in the way they influence people to get creative through the visual effects. The woman dancing with the black shadow following her was interesting as it shows what happens when you think creatively and use editing software to bring your imagination. they pointed out the printing press wasn't an idea on its own but was influenced by a different press that produces wine. I feel this shows that being creative doesn't just mean think of it yourself, but means that it doesn't hurt to take some small ideas from different objects.

analysis

Complete a peer assessment and produce a written document that critically analyses and comprehensively explains what your production was, how it went and how you could improve it.  This document can be divided into;

Pre-Production
Production
Post-Production

pre-production

In this stage, I have had to carry out a variety of different tasks including scripts, storyboards and more. I think this was really challenging because I have had to create 3 different scripts due to being unable to find the right content for my video. Honestly, I am happy to have changed the script because I think this one works better and isn't as complicated as the original. If I was to change something then I would gather what I needed sooner such as gameplay.

production

I found this stage challenging as I'm not used to producing short films like this so I hope it will turn out alright. I thought finding the best camera angles were tough as well as moving setting the gameplay on screen to work well with the script.

storyboards

These pictures are my storyboard ideas. Yes they are stickmen, but I am not great at drawing so it is difficult for me to draw a masterpiece in a small amount of space.
